Illicit Finance Training Course for Journalists

17-19 June 2016, Budapest

Recent events such as LuxLeaks, Swiss Leaks and Panama Papers have proven the power and impact of effective and engaged investigative journalism. DemNet is therefore inviting Hungarian journalists for an intense two-day-long Illicit Finance Training Course, held in Budapest 17-19 June 2016.

The training is organized in collaboration with the internationally recognized collective of tax justice advocates, journalists, and investigators, The Finance Uncovered (FU) Team. FU has been running training sessions for journalists for years. They have nurtured a new generation of journalists across the world who have been behind many influential investigations bringing in light various dodgy practices. Nick Mathiason (Director) and George Turner (Director of Investigations) will be working with you during the training.

Gyakorlati támogatás a kaukázusi civil társadalom megerősítésére

learning 03A 2014 áprilisában indult, és 2015 június végén véget érő, gyakorlati módszereket alkalmazó nemzektözi fejlesztési projektünk célja a határmenti regionális civil szervezetek fenntarthatóságának erősítése volt Grúziában, Örményországban és Azerbajdzsánban. A projekt során a résztvevő szervezetek gyakorlati tudásokat sajátítottak el a szervezetfejlesztés, szektorokon átívelő együttműködés, és konkrét projektek megvalósításának praxisán keresztül, a visegrádi országokból érkező és helyi mentorok aktív segítségével. A V4-kaukázusi mentori párok közös szakértői háttérmunkája segítette a kiválasztott 9 szervezetet. A projekt során igényfelmérés alapján praktikus kézikönyvek (Toolkits) készültek.

Grassroots associations from the Georgian countryside show new perspectives to the development of the NGO sector

ge3Intensive cooperation among the countries of the Visegrad Group and the Caucasus show graspable results in increasing the sustainability of regional non governmental organizations (NGOs), including the development of social enterprises. Within an international project funded by the International Visegrad Fund, three NGOs, the “Democratic Women of Marneuli” (DWM), the „Lagodekhi Development Centre - Greenline”, and ORBI from Akhaltiskhe were awarded for their project ideas. The awards allowed the implementation of project ideas: Let’s Start to Do Rural Tourism”, „Clean Soil and Water for Our Future,” and „Promoting Public Participation of Rural Population in Decision Making”. In addition, with the support of experts from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and Georgia, the awarded NGOs were offered assistance in developing their organizations, harmonizing their organizational mission, vision, and values with longer-term sustainability plans.

Armenian community based organisations develop new strategies in addressing social needs

Budapest/Yerevan. 20 June 2015.

amIntensive cooperation among the countries of the Visegrad Group and the Caucasus show graspable results in increasing the sustainability of regional community based organizations (CBOs) in Armenia, including the development of social enterprises and cross-sectoral cooperation. Within an international project funded by the International Visegrad Fund, three local Armenian CBOs in regional towns were awarded for developing their ideas and organisations: “Pulse of Community” from Vardenik, the Independent Experts Association (IEA) from Vanadzor, and Regional Partnership and Development Centre (RDPC) from Yeghegnadzor. To various degree, and using different methods of operation, all three awarded organisations are solving local issues with the active involvement of their local communities. In addition to making possible the implementation of their projects, with the support of experts from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and Armenia, the awarded CBOs were offered assistance in developing their organizations, harmonizing their organizational mission, vision, and values with longer-term sustainability plans.
