Comments (eg. How useful was the conference for you?):

  • very uptodate topics were discussed, very honest reflections on policies paradigms and oractice
  • The panels could have been a bit shorter to allow more interactive discussions. The topics were extremely interesting but there was too much information and after a while it became difficult to follow
  • conference was really usefull, taking to consideration agenda, as well as networking issue
  • It was interesting to hear about the experience of the NMS. It has widened my perspective.
  • Even more space for discussions, debates, interaction could have been secured. Instead of the '1,5 h panel and 15 min coffee break' structure other type of structure could be used next time.
  • For me personally it was very useful.

3. What topics do you feel should be discussed at future conferences during the next EU Presidencies? – What would be your concrete recommendations for topics during the Polish EU Presidency events?

  • Policy implementation/evaluation methods, forms, ways, etc. - maybe it's time to apply a different approach and look for more effective ways to interact.
  • Strengthening cooperation with the EaP
  • Role of CSO in democracy.
  • regional joint trainings (civ. managment, fundraising, communication) and scaling of the roles of universities (e.g. a FR master in Prague, a civ. management course in Budapest, etc.)
  • Increasing of role of Civil Society
  • Transition approach vs. development approach
  • It was interesting to hear about the experience of the NMS. It has widened my perspective.
  • 1) continuing the concretization of what transition experience means in civil society development, learning from what realistically has happened in EU NMS; 2) keep on lobbying for a more strategic civil society development in Neighbourhood or other policies of EU; 3) learn more practical tools, methods for improving financial sustainability and transparency at NGOs, SMEs
  • The past events should definitely be included referring specially to the Arab Spring. Concretely the possibility of offering the help to the Arab countries with their transition process. Eastern European countries have a very broad experience with transition, specially due to their history, as we have discussed and summarized at the conference. Crucial is to mention both positive and negative practices when the transformation process was taking place in our countries, this may eliminate or possibly avoid the mistakes that could otherwise be made by the Arab reformers. It shall also be indicated how exactly we would offer the help to the Arab countries and it shall be specified as much as possible. This topic shall be discussed and the opportunity to play a significant role in the assistance shall not be missed. The Polish EU Presidency is currently running, so the topics of the events are most probably already set, mainly reflecting the Presidency priorities (European integration as a source of growth, Secure Europe, Europe Benefiting from Openness). Focus on EaP CSF and EU-Ru CSF is desired, as well as on transition experience as a tool to enhance security and stability in our neighbourhood.

4. Pleas refer to networking opportunities – For example: Did you make any contacts? Do you plan to join any introduced European Networks?

  • 1. Yes. 2. Still considering.
  • I met interesting people from different backgrounds with different experiences. Everyone was young and enthusiastic
  • I made several contacts
  • yes, both
  • yes
  • I've made many contacts, considerating joing European Networks
  • We made contacts and found the introduced networks useful.
  • Yes, to several participants from EaP countries for example, and hopefully we can continue a strengthened cooperation between V4 partners and participate actively in formulating the Polish EU-presidency programs
  • Yes I have made several contacts, networking at this event was therefore useful. We shall discuss more broadly the opportunities of becoming a member of any network presented – possibly the Euclid or ENA within the Board of Directors.

5. Do you have any additional comments/suggestions that you would like to share?

  • Demnet team - thank you for your great work!
  • no
  • none
  • no
  • I enjoyed the organization, and found the topics interesting. Everything was good organized.
  • no
  • The programme was demanding and the conference was well organized, but maybe there should have been more time for discussion about the topics mentioned in the first conference day, as the second one was almost entirely dedicated to the NGO financial sustainability.

6. If you feel the 1st conference day was beneficial for you, would you take further the policy related topics or would you participate in formulating recommendations to the Neighbourhood Policy, more specifically on civil society development, through different channels e.g. new web 2.0 surface (under development), e-mails or other forms?

  • Yes
  • sure
  • I am interested to participate in policy development
  • possibly
  • none
  • yes
  • The 1st conference day was beneficial for me. Yet I find it also useful to hear about formulating recommendations to the Neighbourhood Policy through different channels too.
  • yes
  • We would be glad to elaborate on the policy related topics further as well as to participate on formulating recommendations to the Neighbourhood Policy. As a part of the Human Rights and Democracy Network, we have the chance of being a part of the process formulating the recommendations on certain topics at the European level. Maybe new web page might be more flexible and convenient.

7. If you feel the 2nd workshop day was beneficial for you, would you consider to commit yourself to realize resource diversification at your organization to strengthen its sustainability? – If yes, would you share your experiences, challenges with us either through e-mail or the new web 2.0 surface (under development)?

  • sure
  • I have some reservations related to sustainability so would not participate in this area.
  • possibly, depends on how the surface is developed
  • none
  • yes
  • We will be happy to share our experiences with you.
  • yes
  • The second day was interesting and the topics discussed relevant and important. It would be nice to share information, but more as partners not as rivals. Again the web page sounds more suitable.
